Have you ever realized how many of your actions in life gravitate around other people’s opinions? We tend to rely so much on what others think of us that sometimes the impact this has on our life is quite severe. We mistakenly look for validation in everybody except ourselves and second-guess our decisions because of our detrimental lack of self-esteem. So where do we start in regaining our sense of worthiness?
Lesson no.1 – whoever controls your thoughts controls your sense of self-worth
There is no easier and more direct way to put this, whoever controls your thoughts also has the power to control how you feel about yourself. If the opinion of those around you dominates your actions these people also have the power to dictate how you feel about yourself. Now their feedback controls your every action and you find yourself in a situation where every move you make has to satisfy someone other than yourself. Your self esteem and feeling of worthiness are now totally dependent on the level of satisfaction of those around you. This kind of behavior does nothing but encourage a life of stress, anxiety, panic attacks and depression.
Stepping out of this vicious cycle is easy once you decide to take back the control you naturally have of your own thoughts. With each passing day, decide that your opinion is the one that counts and take full responsibility for it. This will give you a wonderful sense of confidence and self worth. Stop letting others think your thoughts and you will soon regain your self-esteem and confidence. Remember that no matter what you do you will never be able to satisfy everybody around you. Once you decide that your happiness is what counts the most you will be then able to regain your sense of self worth and lead a truly blessed and fulfilled life.
